PANCE Prep Plan

Throughout the year we have been taking EOR exams for each rotation and I have been noticing my strengths and weaknesses. I have also been looking at my performance with self-created exams on Rosh and most recently on Uworld. My greatest weakness has been cardiology, specifically with murmurs; although, I did show major improvement in that area on my Family Medicine EOR exam. Another weak subject is pulmonology. I have been consistently scoring just slightly under the national average for these two areas. My plan is to choose practice questions that put an emphasis on those subjects which are the biggest percentage of the PANCE. Other areas that I need to improve on based on my clinical PACKRAT are orthopedics/rheumatology, OBGYN, endocrinology, neurology, psychology, dermatology, and infectious disease. I am not sure if my score for this PACKRAT was any better or worse from the didactic PACKRAT since we no longer have access, but I will keep these areas in mind as well. As for my 300-question mock exam that I made on Rosh Review, the results still revealed areas of weakness in cardiology and pulmonology, but also endocrinology and neurology.

I plan to devote at least 6-8 hours of studying a day Monday through Friday. Each day I will do questions in test/tutor mode and then focus on reviewing my wrong answers at the end. If I have time, I also plan to review the questions I got correct. I will also do a practice test of 250 once a week at the end of each week. All the practice tests will focus on cardiology and pulmonology but I will try to keep the questions randomized as to best reflect the PANCE. I will be using Rosh Review and Uworld for my practice questions and exams. I will also supplement my other areas of weakness by using PANCE prep pearls and osmosis.
